Similarly to Renesas' other products, the RX Family is based on Renesas' integrated development environment called High-performance Embedded Workshop, and enables development with the usability similar to that of the existing products.
Renesas C/C++ Compiler The RX compiler respects the customer's need for compatibility with their existing software assets. It supports compiler languages specifications of existing products, and facilitates program migration from existing Renesas mid-range products, such as M16C, R32C, H8S, and H8SX. Moreover, existing objects transform themselves into RX objects that are more compact and efficient.

Renesas Peripheral Driver Generator (PDG) The Peripheral Driver Generator is a utility that assists a product developer in creating various built-in peripheral I/O drivers of a microcomputer and the routines (functions) to initialize those drivers by eliminating the developer having to do manual coding. All of the necessary source codes are prepared by the Peripheral Driver Generator according to user settings, so that the development time and development cost can be greatly reduced.

IAR Embedded Workbench provides a completely integrated development environment including a project manager, editor, build tools and debugger. In a continuous workflow, you can create source files and projects, build applications and debug them in a simulator or on hardware.

Renesas Demo Kits (RDK) The Renesas Demo Kit for the RX62N (YRDKRX62N) is intended as a user-friendly introductory and demonstration tool for the RX62N microcontroller. The board also provides a useful platform for evaluating the Renesas suite of development tools for coding and debugging, using High-performance Embedded Workshop as well as programming the device using the on-board J-Link Lite emulator.

Renesas E1 Debug Emulator On-chip debugging emulator for the RX Family of microcontrollers (low-end version). Also available as a flash memory programmer for RX family by using with Flash Development Toolkit.

In addition to the debugging functions supported by E1, the E20 provides enhanced trace functions, RAM monitor functions and other functions as well. SEGGER J-Link for RX J-Link is compatible with the Renesas RX Family MCUs. All that is needed to use J-Link with a Renesas RX MCU, is an RX Adapter which is available for J-Link, J-Link Pro, J-Link Ultra, J-Link EDU and any other licensed J-Link compatible emulator. The required software can be downloaded from SEGGER's website and used free of charge.
