Architecture Evaluation Design Kit (AEDK)

The AEDK is a set of tools that enable licensees and 3rd party developers to:

  • Analyze in detail the architecture of the SuperH CPU core.
  • Review and benchmark the CPU capabilities for particular applications.
  • Evaluate the software development environment for the SuperH CPU.
  • Bring up software stacks on simulators and CPU boards to assess how well they will perform, making use of the performance analysis tools to help optimize key algorithms.
  • Design, develop and maintain production software, both prior to and when their SoCs with embedded SuperH IP become available.

The AEDK contains:

  • Bare machine GNU toolchain
    • Contains C/C++ compilers, linker, GDB debugger
    • Available for Solaris, Linux and Windows environments
  • Linux toolchain (for Linux host only)
    • Contains C/C++ compilers, linker, GDB debugger
  • Simulators
    • Instruction set simulator
    • Performance (cycle accurate) simulator
  • Complete documentation suite
    • CPU core datasheet and architecture manuals, core support peripherals, ABI documentation

The AEDK can be targeted to a CPU development board
