Overview

The R-Car H3, the First SoC from the Third-Generation R-Car Automotive
Computing Platform for the Autonomous-Driving Era

In order to realize advanced driving safety support systems that carry out obstacle detection, driver status recognition, hazard prediction, and hazard avoidance, advanced computing (cognitive computing) capabilities for processing large volumes of information from on-board cameras and sensors accurately in real-time are required. In-vehicle infotainment systems also need to interact with a variety of devices and services such as smartphones and cloud services.This requires computing (HMI computing) capabilities for processing large volumes of information from systems accurately in real-time and delivering reliable information to driver.
Renesas has added the third-generation R-Car H3 to its lineup as an automotive computing platform for the autonomous-driving era. The R-Car H3 has computing capabilities that exceed those of the predecessor R-Car H2. In addition to better computing capabilities, the R-Car H3 is compliant with the ISO 26262 (ASIL-B) functionality safety standard for automotive. This solution can be applied to a wide range of in-vehicle infotainment systems and driving safety support systems.
